A New Business Opens!

Congratulations to #Mutty Paws Dog Daycare (www.muttypaws.net) in South Portland!  It was so much fun helping Kris and Teresa find the perfect location for their new venture.

No matter what the state of the economy, there are always enterprising people with great ideas who look to move their business forward.  It is a wonderful lesson for all of us.

I am off to celebrate the Grand Opening of Mutty Paws!

New dog day-care center in South Portland

From staff reports

SOUTH PORTLAND — A new dog day-care center has opened in South Portland.

Mutty Paws opened last week in the old Union Oil building on Lincoln Street.

Kris Klinges, who has five years experience working at other kennels, said Mutty Paws has a 5,000-square-foot outdoor play area with a sand pit for digging.

Mutty Paws has capacity for 85 dogs.

In addition to boarding dogs, Klinges said Mutty Paws staff meet with dog owners to discuss training and behavior goals. Mutty Paws staff will discourage poor pet habits, like eating from the table, excessive barking and digging.

"We develop a lesson plan and make suggestions for following through at home," said Klinges.
Mutty Paws will host a grand opening event on Nov. 19.

The company has two full-time staff and two part-time employees. Klinges hopes to hire more workers as business picks up.

Mutty Paws charges $25 per day and an additional $10 for an overnight stay.

A little extra caffeine....

It has been well over a year since my last post...clearly I have been caffeine deficient.

That is about to change and I am heading back out to the coffeehouses of Portland with the mission on finding great coffee, interesting people and news from the world of commercial real estate, business and life in Southern Maine.  Stay tuned....
